The lovely folks at It’s Moringa were kind enough to send me a sampler pack so I could try it out and review it for Vegan Cuts: the sampler included some “tea” bags (though it isn’t technically a “tea”, it’s more like an infusion in powder form), a container of loose moringa powder, and a couple of bottles of capsules filled with the powder as well.
I’m not usually a huge fan of pills, so I passed those along to my husband to try: he’s just started taking them, so the results won’t be noticeable for a while yet… but I’ve been taking the powder daily for a couple of weeks and I’ve noticed a marked improvement in my health: I’ve been sleeping better, waking at the crack of dawn (!!!) full of energy, and my level of concentration has improved significantly as well. Having Celiac disease, I’ve always had problems with adequate nutrient absorption, and I’ve often felt depleted and fatigued. Amazingly, since I’ve been taking It’s Moringa powder, I’ve had clarity and energy that I don’t think I’ve had since I was a teenager. This stuff is packed with protein, iron, and vitamins, and I can understand why it’s being hailed as a superfood.
The flavour of It’s Moringa powder is interesting: it’s very “green” tasting… like blend of green tea, nettles, and kale. It’s very distinctive and I can imagine that it would be an acquired taste, but I’ve actually become quite fond of it. As I’m not a huge fan of green smoothies, I’ve been adding the powder to soups, salad dressings and rice bowls, and it adds a really interesting plant note to the food that’s rather lovely. I think my favourite so far was a broccoli soup (with onion, potato and spinach) with moringa powder added to it, and it was just. amazing.
With so many people suffering from malnutrition around the world, moringa could be an invaluable source of nutrients for those in need: one that is renewable, sustainable, and ethical.
